About us / A Grand Day Out

Why not visit our offices and sawmill to learn more about our products. We can tailor visits to meet your requiments and interests.

In the nineteen years since Russwood opened Station Sawmill in Newtonmore, an increasing number of prospective and existing customers have come to visit. It may have started out as a cup of tea in the Sawmill, but we like to think we now tailor visits rather better to our visitors’ requirements and interests.

We are able to offer a guided tour of what we do here, including:

The sawmill

Where square sawn sections are re-sawn, graded, measured and checked for moisture content.

The planing mill

Where specialist profiles are machined.

The drying shed

Where timber is carefully stored and monitored before dispatch.

Wide range of timber cladding samples in the yard

Showing how weathering and ageing affect boards.

The timber flooring showroom

Where one can see our extensive range of solid and engineered oak and pine boards.

Decking area

Showing our range of sawn, planed and anti-slip Garapa, Scotlarch and Sila decking.

Depending on how much time you have to spend with us we can offer refreshments to suit, from a cup of tea with fresh pancakes, to a barbecue, to a wee nip of the local liqueur Stag’s Breath.

We will be happy to answer any questions you may have, and to provide samples of any of our products that are of interest to you. We are also pleased to offer you a complimentary copy of New Timber Architecture in Scotland as a souvenir.

To book a visit, please contact us, and we will be delighted to make arrangements for you.
