Russwood rubs shoulders with Royalty

1st June 2009

Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, opened The Magnus House at Aigas Field Centre, Beauly last week. The Magnus House is named after and dedicated to the memory of broadcaster Magnus Magnusson, who spent many happy days at Aigas.

The new building at this respected centre for environmental education is constructed from Scotlarch® timber cladding, supplied by Newtonmore company Russwood. It was designed by local architect Douglas Murray, who is based in Strathpeffer.

Russwood’s Managing Director, John Russell, was invited by Aigas owner, Sir John Lister-Kaye, to speak with Prince Charles on the subject of the building and the timber from which it is built.

“Prince Charles was interested to hear that all the timber used at The Magnus House was sourced within 100 miles of Aigas. It was very apparent from his speech about the environment how concerned he is about responsible sourcing of timber.”

“In the past, Russwood has been pleased to supply Larch and Douglas Fir to Prince Charles’ residence at The Castle of Mey; we are delighted that he and the Duchess of Rothesay support Scottish companies in this way”
