Russwood SCOREs high

1st April 2008

Russwood has joined forces with the Centre for Timber Engineering at Napier University to research improvement and simplification in the fitting of sustainable timber cladding. Backed by The Scottish Government with a SCORE grant for business development and academic collaboration, Ivor Davies of CTE will be undertaking the research on behalf of Russwood.

Mr Davies remarked “ In particular I will be looking at how specialised timber cladding can best meet the demands of large-scale commercial projects.”

Russwood’s MD John Russell commented “We are delighted to have received this vote of confidence from the Scottish Government in the form of their SCORE grant. This will enable us, along with CTE, to develop a cladding system which will markedly simplify and standardise the installation of exterior timber cladding.”

Together CTE and Russwood aim to develop a guaranteed system for the installation of timber cladding. While this has been achieved in the past with tropical hardwoods, Mr Davies will be concentrating his research on systems suitable for new modified timbers, like Platowood and Accoya, already supplied by Russwood for standard cladding projects.

You can read more about this project in the CTE newsletter here.”
