Winning combination of innovative design and Russwood timber

17th November 2008

Russwood is proud to have supplied timber to three of the award-winning projects named at the ceremony for the Inverness Architectural Association Awards 2008.

Long-standing customers Dualchas Building Design were recognised for their work in the Best New Building Award for The Shed at Tokavaig, and their design for An Gerasdan in Glenelg came up trumps in the New Life for Old Buildings category.

Another Skye practice to receive recognition at the awards was Dunvegan company Rural Design, whose Edinbane project for Lochalsh and Skye Housing Association was successful in the place-making category.

Neil Sutherland Architects used Russwood timber in their Strathnairn Forest Shelter for which they were presented with the Most Innovative or Exemplar Use of Timber in a Highlands and Islands Building Award.

The awards were preceded by the annual conference of the Inverness Architectural Association on at the recently renovated Eden Court Theatre.

The event provided a great opportunity to meet customers and to hear an inspiring range of speakers, including Professor Susan Roaf on climate change and fashion-designer turned town-planner Wayne Hemingway on social aspects of housing.

Our congratulations to all the practices whose hard work was recognised in the awards.
