Western Red Cedar
Western Red Cedar is straight-grained and largely free of knots, although knots are more frequent in home-grown wood. It is a relatively soft, brittle wood that can be easily dented or scraped, so may not be the best choice if used at low level and exposed to the risk of impact or scoring. If cladding is likely to be subject to these hazards, Sila A/B ® grade of Siberian Larch is more robust and would be more suitable.
Oak Cadding
European oak has a long tradition of use in the UK left unfinished and allowed to weather to a natural silver grey, in which state it has lasted for many centuries without maintenance. There are now extensive forests of oak all over Europe and a large and expanding resource in the British Isles
Scotlarch
Scotlarch® is the registered trade name for Russwood's selected heartwood of Scottish-grown European Larch.
Siberian Larch
Siberian Larch has long been used for cladding in North Europe. If specified generically Larch can vary considerably in quality. SILA A/B® is a registered trademark of Russwood
