Fire Retardant Products / Ventilated Cavity Fire Barrier
Russwood supply a low cost, easy to install cladding ventilated cavity fire barrier, as required by building regulations
We now supply a new low cost, easy to install cladding cavity fire barrier.
Required by regulation!
To allow the required ventilation timber cladding is designed with an open cavity to the rear. Unfortunately this can result in a potential fire hazard, developing a chimney effect which can result in the rapid spread of a fire.
Recognising this Building Regulations state that when using timber cladding, cavity barriers must be provided at the top of an external wall and at every floor level in flats and residential properties. Also in residential institutions such as hotels, hospitals and halls of residence.
Simple cost effective solution…
Traditional designs for cavity barriers have resulted in complex design solutions at each floor level which can compromise the exterior look. These can also be time consuming and difficult to install on site.
Russwood Ventilated Cavity Fire barrier sits behind the cladding and is simple to design. Not only does this allow new design opportunities, but it is also easy to install and above all results in a far less costly solution.
Tried and tested
Already being used in large commercial and domestic projects such as the Edinburgh Botanic Gardens.
Designed for Cladding the barrier keeps 83% of the cavity open, allowing for excellent ventilation. Russwood Fire barrier is the leading intumescent, expanding fire barrier available in the UK.
