Plato® technology is the next generation of thermally treated timber. Plato®wood Modified Spruce has undergone a natural heat treatment process which transforms less durable FSC certified Spruce into a category 1 durable timber making it ideal for use in Marine conditions.
Plato®wood products use no chemicals in production, and even incorporate environmentally-friendly sourcing of the electricity and steam used in the production process. These features mean that it scores high on EcoHomes points, and it is guaranteed for 15 years for durability and stability.
The Plato®nisation of the timber reduces the hygroscopicity of the timber, that is, its tendency to absorb and release water, making it an excellent material for marine applications.
Plato is widely used in the Dutch canal systems and associated water-related civil engineering applications.
These responsibly sourced boards are an excellent choice for boarded sides of water courses and river banks. These can easily be constructed with round or square posts and heavy section tongue and groove battens. They are also a natural choice for decking in waterside locations.
