Burnblock® fire retardant treatment
Where an improved reaction to fire performance is required Russwood recommend the Burnblock® system. Burnblock® is a market leading solution for the fire retardant treatment of timber. Unlike many other products on the market this fire-retardant consists of 100% natural ingredients, is 100% biodegradable, and pH-neutral. Furthermore, the product also has GOLD-level Cradle-to-Cradle Certificationᵀᴹ, making it the first fire retardant treatment to achieve this standard.
Burnblock® has been patented worldwide and holds extensive certification for many timber types, uses and arrangements. Fire retardant treatment with Burnblock® guarantees an extremely reliable, safe, and sustainable product.

Russwood’s timber cladding can be treated with Burnblock® to achieve fire classification up to Euroclass B- s1,d0.

Using Burnblock® treated timber
Russwood’s timber cladding can be treated with the Burnblock® fire retardant system up to Euroclass B- s1, d0 as classified under EN13501-1, and in accordance with EN14915. Burnblock® is classed as leach resistant, and is certified for use in INT1(internal dry) , INT2(internal humid) or EXT (exterior) conditions.
Burnblock® treated timber comes with certification of treatment, and relevant CE marking declaring its performance characteristics as required by the Construction Products Regulation act of 2013.
Burnblock® causes little or no change to the finished colour of the wood in most species, but white surface salts may appear in damp or humid conditions following the initial treatment. These salts can be cleaned off with a brush or cloth, or will weather off naturally in external conditions.
