Abodo® Vulcan Vertical Grain

Abodo Vulcan Vertical Grain is a premium exterior cladding option and sustainable alternative to old-growth Western Red Cedar. This exceptional cladding option is crafted from thermally modified Radiata Pine – a sustainably sourced, fast-growing timber. Through heat-treatment, the timber gains enhanced stability and durability, which in turn offers optimal coating performance. Abodo Vulcan Vertical Grain is a premium cladding product, created from thermally modified New Zealand plantation timber and engineered with a vertical grain construction.

Weathering

Abodo is usally supplied coated, however if left to weather naturally, Abodo will turn to a light grey colour over time.

Sustainability

Rapidly renewable species which is sustainably sourced from fast-growing New Zealand plantation timber. FSC certified. EPD available.

SiOO:X coating

Abodo Vulcan Vertical Grain is ideal for factory coating with SiOO:X system to achieve a consistent weathered look at an accelerated rate.

Durability

Outstanding durability (Class 1 - 3 BS EN 350-2) due to thermal modification.

Coatings

Available factory coated in SiOO:X Light Grey or Mid Grey. Also suitable also for coating with Woca oil.

Appearance

Growth rings run from face to face, giving a refined vertical grain appearance, which is free of knots.

Density

Low - classified by BS EN 350-2 as approximately 420 Kg/m³ at a moisture content of approximately 6-8%.

Fire retardant

Not currently suitable for treatment with fire retardant.

Application

Highly versatile, suitable for most types of cladding application. Custom sizes, including wide sections and fins available.

Stability

The combination of thermal treatment and the vertical grain orientation yields a remarkably stable timber. This allows for the utilisation of wider boards while maintaining exceptional performance.

Surface finishes

Can be produced in a Wire Brushed or Skimmed finish.
