We’ve spent decades obsessing over how to make our cladding, flooring and decking even better. That expertise and passion are distilled into every board we produce.

More about us
Our family-run business has its HQ in Newtonmore, Scotland, which comprises our sawmill, production facilities, R&D and product testing facilities, offices and showrooms. We also have an office in Glasgow’s Merchant City and we’re a partner at Material Source Studio Glasgow, where we connect with architects, designers and specifiers through events, CPDs and collaboration. Russwood is recognised as a benchmark brand in the UK, and we supply projects across the country, from Shetland to the Channel Islands and everywhere in between.
We’re part of a community of like-minded architects, interior designers, contractors, self-builders and suppliers who share our enthusiasm for timber-first construction and the importance of beautiful buildings. We invest in research and development to ensure we’re creating products that come with serious aesthetic appeal, longevity and minimal maintenance.
The business we’re in means we’re inextricably linked with nature and the built environment. We want to be a force for good and leave both in a better state for future generations. That’s why we’re so passionate about timber-first construction. We’re lucky to work with a natural, renewable material, and by improving our operations, supply chain, premises and policies over time, we’re moving steadily towards reaching net zero.
Everything we do is driven by one ambition: building tomorrow in timber. So, why Russwood? Here’s just five reasons…

01. Uncompromising product quality
As a privately owned and family-run company for more than 30 years, we have the flexibility to invest in what’s important to us. The four main things we focus on — creating incredible products, being a good employer, delivering excellent service and caring for the world around us — breed unmatched quality. Every board that leaves our premises is graded to our exacting standards; and we maintain an outdoor test library at our HQ to monitor the performance and appearance of our cladding and decking products and coatings over time.

02. Genuine care for the environment
Some examples of how sustainability is high on our agenda: Russwood is FSC- and PEFC-certified, which means any timber we use comes from responsibly managed forests; we don’t sell tropical or uncertified timber, and in 2017 we stopped selling pressure-treated timber in favour of longer-lasting and more sustainable options. Our office and production areas are heated by biomass boilers that use our offcuts and hundreds of tonnes of our wood shavings as fuel. We also use wood wherever possible in our own construction work — even when choosing steel would be the easier option — and our electric fleet is solar-powered.

03. Our expertise
We want to make it easier for people to design beautiful, sustainable buildings that stand the test of time. Helping customers hone in on the right product and feel inspired and excited when they find it is why we do what we do. We take the time to explain the trade-offs between different products, and to offer practical detailing and installation guidance, learned from years of testing and experimentation. We have developed Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) to give architects independently verified, standardised data about the lifecycle of our products.

04. Our sense of community
We share our knowledge and passion with the wider building community. We’re devoted to providing CPD opportunities for our industry so we can educate specifiers of all kinds — architects, technicians and interior designers — about the benefits of timber-first construction. We love sharing our knowledge, whether it has been gained through decades of experience, a recent R&D project or collaborations with architects and contractors. Facilitating a sense of community among our employees is also important to us, which is why we provide regular opportunities for the team to come together through weekly company wide meetings, and social company events.

05. Our innovative approach
Continuous improvement is embedded throughout the business, and we invest heavily in R&D to find new ways to make our cladding, decking and flooring even better — whether that’s reducing waste, making products look better and last longer, or streamlining our production processes.
