Ultimate surface for factory-coating with opaque and translucent paint, or oil

Coatings

Accoya® is the ultimate surface for factory-coating with opaque or translucent paint. Virtually no shelling, cracking, checking or fissuring will occur. Coatings can be expected to last up to three times longer than on unmodified timbers, substantially reducing maintenance requirements. Accoya® Color Grey is not suitable for paint coating, as the colour is integral to the timber and designed to be left uncoated.

Weathering

Uncoated Accoya® is a cream/light straw colour, which will take on a silvery-grey appearance when left to weather naturally. Accoya Color Grey is grey throughout the cross section of the product, providing a consistent appearance from installation. Slight darkening naturally occurs as the timber weathers, creating a richer tone over time.

Accoya is made from radiata pine, a fast-growing tree sourced from well-managed forests in New Zealand. The timber is then modified using a non-toxic acetylation process, giving the cladding unmatched stability and durability. We only supply Accoya in A1 grade, the highest available which ensures a clean and knot-free appearance. Virtually zero swelling and shrinkage means less maintenance in the long term.

Accoya can be machined into a range of cladding profiles to suit different design requirements, and it is available in various lengths. We have a range of face-fix and secret-fix profiles. Our 15 mm Performance Profile delivers Accoya’s outstanding performance in a more economical, value-engineered profile.

We supply two varieties of this clean and crisp cladding: standard Accoya and Accoya Color Grey.

All Accoya products come with a 50-year Accoya warranty as standard.

Accoya Color Grey cladding

Accoya

Uncoated Accoya is a cream or light straw colour and takes on a silvery-grey appearance when left to weather naturally. Its stability makes Accoya the ultimate surface for factory-coating with opaque or translucent paint: virtually no shelling, cracking, checking or fissuring will occur, and coatings last up to three times longer than on unmodified timber.

We keep a stock of Accoya cladding, making it ideal for projects that need a quick turnaround.

Accoya Color Grey

Accoya Color Grey has a consistent grey colour throughout the board, designed to last for the lifetime of the product. Every single cell is coloured grey. The performance remains the same as with standard Accoya, but this version provides a uniform grey appearance from day one, with no need for coatings or weathering.

Finishes

Learn more about our range of cladding surface finishes; from smooth, planed boards, to textured finishes specifically developed to enhance paint coating performance.

Planed

Planed

Planed boards are run through our planing mill to create a smooth, dressed finish.

Brushed

Brushed

To create this effect, wire brushes are used to pull out the softer spring wood, exposing the harder summer wood, thus accentuating the grain and creating a beautifully textured surface.

Accoya® and Accoya Color Grey offer the same performance benefits, including durability, stability and long service life.

The key difference is appearance. Standard Accoya has a pale, natural tone that will weather over time to silver/grey and is generally supplied factory-coated with opaque or translucent paint.

Accoya Color Grey is pigmented with colour throughout the board, providing a consistent grey appearance from installation without the need for coatings or reliance on natural weathering. Ideal for projects where a consistent grey finish is desired from the outset, without ongoing maintenance or coating requirements.

Expert View

The dimensional stability properties of Accoya® are unrivalled, making it the ideal substrate for low maintenance, decorative paint finishes. Boards display subtle figuring with very few knots, resulting in a clean and contemporary aesthetic. Our RW119 Performance profile makes Accoya® a viable option for a wider scope of projects. With the introduction of Accoya Color Grey, clients can achieve that same high level of performance with a consistent grey finish throughout the board, offering greater flexibility in how the material is used.
