Let the light flow
Russwood’s European oak flooring has played a starring role in a light and contemporary extension of a beautiful period home in London.
Flow & natural light
The Grade 2 listed terrace house boasts many fine original features. The owners wanted to expand the space with a modern extension to improve flow and natural light. Somner Macdonald Architects delivered a striking and unusual zinc and glass addition, which mimics the original roof shape whilst maximising the sense of light and space.
Beautifully textured & durable
Russwood’s European Oak proved the perfect choice to connect the hall, kitchen and living spaces, offering both high quality and value for money. The architect commented that the character of the boards made the flooring ideal when marrying traditional and contemporary spaces. The beautifully textured and durable surface of this floor which is created by wire brushes to pull out the softer early wood, exposing the harder late wood below was perfect for this project. The architect selected wide boards of 245mm in Prime grade finished with white Osmo Hardwax oil, for a light and contemporary finish.
Working with Russwood is excellent. Their sales assistance is second to none and their technical knowledge is always reassuring. This, coupled with very good after sales service, makes them exceptionally good to deal with.
