In 1990, John Russell founded Russwood on the site of his father’s coal distribution business in Newtonmore. Initially, the company focused on processing UK-grown hardwoods, like Scottish Oak, Elm, and Birch, kiln drying them for a variety of uses such as furniture and flooring. Larch logs were processed for fencing, sheds, and picnic tables. In 2000, John expanded Russwood into the cladding and decking market, traveling across Europe in search of timber specialists to bring the best materials to the business. Over the past 30+ years, John has led the company's innovation, continually developing new products as well as strengthening relationships within the architectural market.
