Meet John

Founder

John Russell is the Founder of Russwood and has been instrumental in shaping the company since its beginnings in 1990. Starting on the site of his father’s coal distribution yard in Newtonmore, John established Russwood as a timber processor, initially focusing on UK-grown hardwoods such as Scottish Oak, Elm, and Birch.

In 2000, John expanded the business into the cladding and decking market, travelling extensively across Europe to build relationships with timber specialists and source high-quality materials. Over the past three decades, he has remained at the forefront of innovation at Russwood, driving product development and fostering strong connections within the architectural community.

John’s pioneering vision and deep-rooted passion for timber have laid the foundation for Russwood’s growth as a trusted partner in sustainable timber solutions.
