Russwood partners with Material Source
We are so excited to announce our partnership with Material Source. A leading destination for architects and designers to explore ever-changing product and material installations from 25+ industry-leading commercial interiors brands.
We now have a dedicated pod in Material Source’s Glasgow location at 180 West George Street. This space provides an inspiring environment where industry professionals can experience our timber products firsthand and engage in discussions on sustainable design. We also have the opportunity to host events, consultations and CPDs in the space. In this blog, we explore the pod’s design, its purpose, and our upcoming event on March 20th .
Designing the Russwood pod for Material Source
Our pod has been designed primarily to showcase our wood flooring and interior cladding products, with a selection of external cladding products also featured. The space offers a tactile experience, allowing visitors to see and feel the natural textures and finishes of the products.
Jodie Wight, our Interior Project Liaison Technician, took the lead on designing the pod. She shares insights into the creative process, stating:
“The other pods we gravitated towards when we visited had a really minimal appearance, so we knew from the start that this was the look we wanted to achieve. With a diverse range of products for both internal and external use, we carefully curated a selection that best showcases what we can offer.”
We wanted to highlight Douglas Fir within the pod and featured 2.8-metre lengths along the base – this is at the shorter end of this species’ capabilities, as it typically runs between 3-5 metres.
Why this partnership is an important move for us
Being part of Material Source opens up new opportunities for Russwood to connect with architects, designers, and property professionals in a dynamic, hands-on setting. It allows us to showcase our products in a curated design environment while making expert knowledge more accessible. With this partnership, we can now hold CPDs, meetings and industry events more frequently, providing valuable insights into timber and modern construction.
Our first event: Transforming spaces with timber
To launch our partnership, we are hosting our first event in the Material Source Glasgow theatre space on March 20th, from 6-8 pm.
Titled Transforming spaces with timber: exploring retrofit and reuse in design, this session will feature a panel of four industry experts discussing sustainability, retrofit and timber’s role in promoting a circular economy and material reuse.
Our expert panel, facilitated by David Smalley of Material Source, includes:
- Gareth Davies, Head of Technical and R&D, Russwood
- Matt Stevenson, Founder and Managing Director, Ecosystems Technologies
- Andrew Hadden, Associate Architect at HLM Architects and President of the Glasgow Institute of Architects
- Katherine Adams, Director, Reusefully
This event is a fantastic opportunity for professionals to learn, network, and gain inspiration for their projects.
