An inspiring Glasgow space for our expanding team
In February 2024, we moved our Glasgow office from the East End to the city centre. Several reasons prompted the change, but two stand out. First, we sought an improved work environment for our Glasgow team as it continues to expand. Secondly, welcoming Central Belt-based architects and interior designers into a Russwood space is important to us, and this was something we couldn’t do in our previous office.

An airy space in the Merchant City
The office is in a buzzing location, surrounded by a plethora of coffee shops, pubs and restaurants. It’s roomy and airy, and the modernised space retains attractive traditional features. While already trumping our previous office, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to put the Russwood stamp on it. With the introduction of interior cladding, we’ve incorporated biophilic design principles—bringing a touch of Scottish Highlands-inspired nature into the heart of the city.
Lunawood is ideal for commercial interior cladding
As the Glasgow office is a rented space, we needed interior decor that would be easy to install (and remove). Plus, we wanted to use a material that would provide warmth and complement the original features of the room. The answer: the Lunawood Collection.
Lunawood is a Scandinavian-designed Nordic pine and spruce product in a dark honey-brown shade that comes from sustainable forests in Finland. It can be used to clad internal and external walls, and its tongue and groove installation makes easy work of large areas, such as commercial spaces. Another bonus for commercial installations is that Lunawood cladding is low maintenance. It has been thermally modified, making it free of resin and significantly less affected by swelling and shrinking than some other types of timber cladding.
Specifier tip: The Lunawood Collection can be treated with a fire-retardant coating to meet regulatory standards.

Fitting the interior cladding has been an easy way to Russwoodise a rented space, bringing warmth and biophilic design in. It’s important to us that everybody in Russwood has a nice place to work from – and it’s exciting to have a larger space in a prime location in Glasgow.

A choice of profiles with the same crisp finish
Lunawood comes in five profiles, the two most contemporary being our Luna Triple and Luna Trio. We’ve installed both of these in the Glasgow office as they work particularly well in tandem, providing textural interest alongside a uniform overall effect. The Triple (32mm batons on a 140mm board) is wider than the Trio (17mm batons on a 92mm board).
Our brilliant contractor, Jamie Robinson, fitted the Lunawood cladding using our battening system and F-Bohr® screws, which have been specifically designed for secret fixing tongue and groove cladding. The unique shank design prevents splitting and the neat 3.2mm head delivers a sleek, fix-free appearance.
A brand-new bespoke meeting pod
Jamie also used Lunawood cladding – taken from the existing wall to reduce waste – on the outside of our custom-built meeting pod. This was designed by David Ross, Russwood’s New Product Developer and member of our research and development team.
Built for up to four people, the meeting pod is a relaxed alternative to the larger conference room: a simple, sleek bubble for bouncing ideas off one another, taking video calls and reflecting – all with minimal noise disruption to the wider office.
“The inside of the meeting space is clad with Thermopine battens in an open-slat arrangement over acoustic felt to help diffuse and dampen sound reverberations within the space,” says David. “It offers a calm, distraction-free space for when you need to find some focus.”
On the seating and back walls, European Mountain Larch Flooring effortlessly blends with the Luna Trio cladding, and it provides a sturdy table surface, too.
“It was nice to trial some of the Russwood products in unconventional ways and see opportunities for how they could be used beyond standard uses of flooring or exterior wall cladding more frequently in future,” says David.

Bringing biophillic design to the city
You can read about the growing demand for nature-inspired interiors in the first edition of our Profile magazine. And biophilic design is a trend we’re fully behind. With Russwood’s headquarters located in the Scottish Highlands, we need no convincing of the benefits of being surrounded by nature. Lunawood cladding has provided the natural element needed to balance out the urban setting of 93 Candleriggs. Given the anticipated expansion of the Glasgow team, creating a productive, positive space for them to grow – as we’ve already done with our other offices – seemed the natural next step.
