New products, new possiblities

Russwood strives to be at the forefront of new products and systems, and this year saw several new additions to our product portfolio:

We were proud to be first to introduce Euroclass B fire rated cladding, with fully compliant coating systems to the UK market with Remmers and Burnblock.

Our Signature range of European Oak flooring was launched, with 5 beautiful new floors, offering a luxurious and contemporary finishes.

Imbue™ received a refreshed name and identity, better reflecting its design-led character and sustainability focus.

To support quality and precision in fixing, we launched Russwood FinFix®, an advanced solution for fixing fins & louvres.

Rounding off the year’s product updates, Accoya® Color Grey joined our range, offering a premium sustainable decking solution.

Welcoming new faces

Our team continued to grow this year, welcoming a number of talented new colleagues across departments.

In January, Brianna joined as Operations and Procurement Coordinator and Chris Wright came on board as Technical Sales for SIHGA® UK. Paul, Brianna’s husband, joined our Cladding and Decking Sales team in March. Mollie joined in April as Reception and Administration Assistant and has since been promoted to Haulage and Logistics Administrator – well done Mollie!

Later in the year, we were delighted to welcome Lewis, Fraser and Alistair to the Production team – each bringing new skills, enthusiasm and fresh perspectives to the business.

Building a sustainable future

Sustainability remained a major focus throughout 2025.

Building on the ideas shared in Alice’s blog, we continued our commitment to net zero, with our biomass boiler helping to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency across our site. This project enables us to use our own sawmill co-products to generate heat, reducing reliance on external fuel sources and cutting emissions. Overall, it’s helped us cut back on external fuel, make better use of our by-products, and move closer to our net-zero goals.

Our Continuous Improvement Challenge encouraged teams to identify new ways to streamline processes, reduce waste and work smarter. This initiative supports our ongoing journey towards LEAN, which we’ll continue into 2026 and beyond. The winning team with the most ideas by headcount was the Office and Marketing team, congratulations!

We also launched BIM files for our products, helping architects and designers to integrate Russwood materials seamlessly into their digital workflows.

Events that inspire

Our partnership with Material Source Glasgow went from strength to strength this year. Since joining the space in January, we’ve hosted four successful events: Transforming Spaces with Timber, Signature Scent, Timber Detailing Masterclass and Timber & Taste. Each event sparked inspiring conversations about timber design and sustainability.

We launched the SIHGA UK website, giving specifiers easier access to our fixing solutions, and hosted a webinar mini-series, sharing our technical expertise with audiences across the UK.

The If Timber Could Talk panel during the London Festival of Architecture, co-hosted with Abodo at Autex Acoustics, was another highlight – bringing together industry voices to discuss sustainable timber use in modern design.

And of course, the Quiz and Fizz evening in London with Abodo and Waugh Thistleton Architects was a great success. A huge thank you to our events team for organising such a fantastic programme of events throughout the year, helping connect the architecture and design community.

Evolving and improving

It’s been a big year internally too, with a number of exciting developments across the business.

We launched an online booking system for client consultations, making it easier than ever for customers to connect with our experts.

Amy was promoted to Marketing Manager, while Laura stepped into her new role as Operations and Continuous Improvement Manager, leading several initiatives to improve efficiency and collaboration.

Scott also moved into a new role as Technical and R&D Support, and relocated to Newtonmore, continuing to use his experience to drive innovation and growth at Russwood.

Finally, our Dyce Carriers lorry, Creag Dubh, hit the road with a bold new wrap – keep an eye out, you won’t miss it!

Milestones and moments

2025 brought several exciting milestones beyond our day-to-day work.

We officially acquired SiOO:X, strengthening SiOO:X future prospects and ensuring customers can look forward to even higher quality and service.

Our Thermopine® cladding won Archello’s Low-Carbon Product of the year by public vote – a brilliant achievement.

Our summer BBQ was another highlight, bringing the whole team together with their families and local businesses for an afternoon of great food and good company in the new Production Hall.

We held a number of charity staff lunches this year raising money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK, CRY, Hero Paws, Dravet Syndrome, Cats Protection, and Shelter Scotland.

We celebrated 25 years of dedicated service from Alaister, our Commercial Manager, and 15 years from Andy in Production – thank you both for your hard work and commitment over the years.

And we’ll be sharing the latest stats, rounding off another successful year in numbers. Our lorry driver, Big Mac has travelled 51853 miles (2.1 times around the world)!

Celebrating our team

It’s not just been a big year for Russwood as a company, but for the people behind it too.

Our Marketing and Events Coordinator, Zoë, joined the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) team as Events and Communications Ambassador, supporting initiatives that engage and connect Scotland’s marketing community.

Laura completed her impressive three loch swim challenge without a wetsuit, raising £700 for charity. Blair from our Production team completed Movember. Thea and Rich also ran their first half marathon.

Craig and Alice got married in September at Boreland, Loch Tay and Nick became a grandad to baby Ellie – congratulations to all!

Looking ahead

As we reflect on a year filled with innovation, teamwork and memorable moments, we’d like to thank our incredible team, our partners and our clients for their continued support.

We look forward to building on this momentum in 2026 and continuing to champion timber, first.

From all of us at Russwood, have a wonderful festive season and a happy New Year.
