Product Spotlight: Accoya® Color Grey
If you’re looking for a timber that delivers a consistent grey finish without relying on weathering or coatings, Accoya® Color Grey is a strong place to start. Suitable for both cladding and decking, it combines the proven performance of Accoya® with a colour engineered into the board itself. The result is a material that looks considered from day one and stays that way, with minimal intervention over time.

A consistent grey, from the start
One of the main challenges with specifying timber externally is managing how it will age. Natural weathering can be beautiful, but it can also be uneven.
Accoya Color Grey helps remove that uncertainty. The colour runs through the entire board, so what you install is what you keep. There’s no waiting for a façade to settle, and no patchiness where exposure varies.
Visually, it sits firmly in the “clean and contemporary” camp. Boards are predominantly clear of knots, with very subtle figuring, making it well suited to projects where you want the material to feel calm, consistent and architectural rather than characterful or knotty.
Suitable for cladding and decking applications
What makes Accoya Color Grey particularly useful is that it’s not limited to one application.
For cladding, it delivers sharp lines and a uniform finish across a façade. It can be machined into a wide range of profiles, whether you’re looking for something bold and linear or more refined and understated.
For decking, the same principles apply. The boards remain stable underfoot, and the finish stays consistent over time.
Our RW216 profile has been developed specifically for use with SenoFix®, creating a clean, secret-fix deck with no visible fixings. Where additional slip resistance is required, RW217 allows for the integration of our anti-slip system without disrupting the aesthetic.

Designed to be left alone
Unlike standard Accoya, which is often specified for its coating performance, Accoya Color Grey is intended to be used as it is.
There’s no need to oil or paint it to achieve a grey finish, and no ongoing coating maintenance required to keep that look consistent. That simplicity is a big part of its appeal, particularly for projects where long-term upkeep is a concern.
It’s also worth noting that Accoya Color Grey is not suitable for SiOO:X or fire-retardant treatments, so it tends to be specified where its natural performance can do the talking.
Performance that lasts
At its core, this is still Accoya, so the performance is what you’d expect.
The acetylation process fundamentally changes how the timber behaves, resulting in exceptional dimensional stability. In practical terms, that means minimal movement, fewer issues on site, and a finished result that stays looking sharp.
It also sits in the highest durability class (Class 1), with a 50-year warranty, making it suitable for demanding external applications, including decking and exposed façades.

The sustainable choice
Accoya Color Grey is manufactured from Radiata Pine sourced from FSC® or PEFC certified forests, where fast growth cycles support responsible, repeatable harvesting.
The timber is modified using a non-toxic acetylation process, which enhances durability and stability while extending its service life. In practice, that longevity plays a key role in reducing overall environmental impact.
Where Accoya Color Grey works best
Accoya Color Grey tends to work best on projects where consistency matters.
If you’re trying to achieve a uniform grey finish across a façade or deck, without relying on weathering, coatings or ongoing maintenance, it’s a brilliant choice.
It’s also a strong option where long-term performance is a priority, particularly in exposed locations where movement, moisture and maintenance can become an issue over time.
