Anti-Slavery Policy
About this policy
At Russwood we are aware that modern slavery is a global issue and we are committed to ensuring all staff members are up to date and aware of the risks our company faces. All staff members in the company are expected to report any concerns and management are expected to act upon them.
Steps taken to ensure compliance:
- Right to work checks – all employees are checked prior to employment, original documents are checked, copied and signed for in the presence of the employee by management and a record is kept with the employees records and details are kept in a HR secure document.
- Employment Contracts – all employees have a Written Statement of Employment which is signed by each individual and has all details of statutory rights including holiday pay and sick pay.
- Company Handbook – this is available to all employees within their area of work and is issued to them at the time of their employment. This details all employee rights and company policies are accessible to all employees.
- Payroll/Admin Checks:
- Wages/salary – all employees are paid above minimum wage and we do not take any deductions for accommodation, food or any other debt not required by HMRC or other government agency.
- Hours – employees are required to either work contracted hours or on a timesheet basis where hours are recorded each week and signed off by management on a weekly basis.
- Payment of wages – all wages are paid into individuals bank accounts, and no wages are paid into a central bank account. As a second check the bank would flag up any duplicate accounts.
- Email addresses – all employee email addresses are kept on file and payslips are emailed directly to employees on a monthly basis or handed to employees without a valid email address.
- On site general checks to spot potential victims:
- Legal documents – all employees have possession of their own documents and copies of relevant documents are filed in People HR
- Transport – all employees make their own way to and from work
- Appearance – all employees are provided with the necessary PPE and / or Russwood’s Dress Code Policy
- Behaviour – all employees follow Russwood’s Code of Conduct Policy, Russwood’s Inappropriate Behaviour Policy and Russwood’s Anti-harassment and Bullying Policy
- Fear – Russwood promotes a safe, open and respectful culture
This policy does not form part of any employee’s Statement of Main Terms of Employment, and we may amend it or depart from it at any time.
