Aviemore 100
Russwood were delighted to have the opportunity to support the Aviemore 100 event for the 2nd year running, working with both Mikes Bikes Aviemore and Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland. As for 2018, Russwood entered two teams to take part in the event with Managing Director John Russell again teamed up with Liz Mackenzie, and Claire Howie teamed up with George Ellis, our Supervisor in the paint line.
Russwood donated timber cladding to Mikes Bikes to build racks for the entrants to hang their bikes. Solo riders do a 70km road bike cycle before swapping over to their mountain bikes to then take on two 15km laps around Glenmore Forest Park. Russwood also supported Mikes Bikes and CHSS with co-branding of water bottles to give out to all competitors on the day.
After a week of glorious sunshine and summer temperatures, we knew that the forecast was scheduled to break but we weren’t expecting the full on wet weather and chilly temperatures we, and all the other entrants were met with on Saturday morning! Myself and Liz headed off on the 70km road bike section with promises to get back to base as quickly as possible to tag our respective team mates, George and John. The weather didn’t let up but we both made it round safely and in good times, leaving George and John to battle it out on the mountain bike legs.
Times between the two teams were VERY tight – only 10 seconds between the mountain bikers. So it looks like 2020 is on the calendar again to battle it out on the bikes!
Congratulations to all the competitors and a big well done to the organisers for another fantastic event. See you all next year!
