Meet the team – Kelsey Orr
Organised, stylish and sassy, Haulage and Logistics Supervisor, Kelsey, is a vibrant ray of sunshine in the Russwood Office. Marketing Executive, Amy, sat down with Kelsey to find out more about her progression at Russwood, and what she loves most, both inside and outside of work.
Russwood journey
Kelsey was destined to be our logistics genie. In Summer of 2021, Russwood were advertising for a Haulage and Logistics Coordinator and Kelsey applied. However, after her initial interview, it was agreed she would be more suited to a receptionist position. Kelsey says, in hindsight, this gave her time to learn the ropes at Russwood. Within 6 months she was covering Haulage holidays and time off, learning as she went. Within a year, she transitioned to Haulage and Logistics Coordinator, and less than a year later, she had been promoted to Supervisor. She might be the youngest member of staff at Russwood, but don’t let that fool you – she keeps the rest of us in check (in a good way of course!).
Daily challenges
Not one to shy away from a challenge, Kelsey admits that problem solving is her favourite part of the job. Whether it’s navigating route access restrictions, keeping drivers within their drop off times, or complex route planning, she thrives on ‘figuring it out’. The only real struggle, she jokes, is keeping our driver ‘Big Mac’ happy. He loves calling in multiple times a day just for a ‘chat’ or to question her route change. Kelsey and Big Mac are a dynamic duo, the youngest and oldest members of the Russwood team, keeping the deliveries running smoothly!
Organised Queen
Kelsey is the queen of organisation, which is key to her role. A typical day for Kelsey includes finalising the lorry load for the following day, distributing load sheets to our production team to ensure the correct stock is packaged onto the lorry, updating customers on their deliveries, talking to external haulage providers and planning like a boss for the week ahead. With Kelsey’s proven track record of being super organised, neat and tidy, she helped implement the 5 S’s strategy as part of our continuous improvement strategy at Russwood. Kelsey keeps us all on our toes, surprising us with spot checks to ensure we are always following the best practices.
Outside the office
Kelsey regularly spends her evenings up the Glen in Newtonmore, walking her puppy, Oakley. On the weekends, she likes travelling around Scotland trying out different food & drinks establishments. She tells me The Old Mill Inn in Pitlochry is a firm favourite.
Whether it’s a weekend away with the gals (organised by Kelsey, obviously) or a day trip, she loves an excuse to get dressed up. Always changing up her style, I don’t think I have ever seen Kelsey in the same outfit twice, and she always looks immaculate. Along with her ever changing wardrobe, Kelsey changes her hairstyle more than the weather, so don’t be surprised if she looks nothing like her picture on our meet the team page when you visit us next.
We are always keen to hear from people who are interested in working at Russwood both in our yard and office teams. Available positions and details of how to apply speculatively can be found on our careers page.
