Meet the team – Alaister Jeffrey
Russwood’s ‘Meet the Team’ blog posts have become quite popular – this month, Danielle from our Marketing team tells us about our Cladding Team Leader and one of Russwood's longest standing employees; Alaister Jeffrey.

Alaister starting working for Russwood as a Cladding Advisor back in 2000 – making this year his 21st Russwood birthday – Happy 21st Al!
With 20+ years timber knowledge, Al is the main contact for many builders, contractors and architects. Sharing his expert knowledge and experience on a wide range of cladding and decking products and fixing systems. He ensures prospective projects are accurately specified and quoted for. It’s fair to say working life at Russwood has changed enormously in the last 20 years. When Al first joined the Russwood family, there were only three people in the office dealing with anything and everything! Although the simple ethos of quality products and excellent service has remained a constant thread.
Historic and iconic
Over the years Alaister has been involved in many wonderful projects; from self-build extensions to large scale commercial buildings. One of Al’s favourite projects, designed by Hoskins Architects, is the Culloden Battlefield Visitor Centre – which features our Scotlarch® Cladding. In Al’s own words, “The Moor is so historic and iconic – the way the new cladded building blends seamlessly into its surroundings is quite remarkable.”

The great outdoors
Born and bred in Newtonmore, we are very lucky to have such remarkable scenery on our doorstep. Al takes full advantage of the great outdoors – he enjoys running, cycling and walking – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him relax on his lunch break, his jacket is on and he’s off out the door for a walk around the village – getting those steps up! Being from Newtonmore, this also means Shinty plays a part in Al’s life, although he never played – he is currently the Treasurer of the Club.
Alaister in 3 words – gracious, energetic, reliable…
Always having a great interest in history and an eye for design; Alaister is a proud member of Historic Scotland, The National Trust and also a member of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society. One of Al’s biggest passions is football – whether he’s attending the match or watching it on TV – he rarely misses a game. He has been a proud season ticket holder at Rangers FC for most of his adult life (when it comes to football – we slightly differ in taste, we’ll say no more…)

Alaister’s travels
So far, he has racked up a total of 24 countries (that’s a fair few stamps). Out of all the places Al has visited, he said, “New York is my favourite, the sheer scale of everything is just breath-taking. In 2010 I spent the 4th of July on the harbour for the fireworks, a fantastic highlight!” Like us all – Al is very much looking forward to getting his next holiday planned.
If you think you have what it takes to join Alaister and the rest of the Russwood team, check out our careers page. We are currently recruiting for three roles in our Sales and Yard Teams.
