A Woodland Resting Place
In place of windy cemeteries and grey headstones, GreenAcres Woodland Burial Park provides memorial gardens, tree planting and carvings to commemorate a loved one’s final resting place.
Strong, peaceful and warm
The company has invested millions in its woodland burial concept, and recently opened its Rainford site, near Liverpool, comprising two 19th and 20th century tree plantations. Architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios took up the brief to create an all-purpose building, office, client gathering area and chapel for the Park.
The client believes that the funeral service is part of the bereavement journey, and as such the aesthetic of the building needed to be strong, peaceful, respectful and warm.
Striking sharp angles
Scotlarch® was chosen for its durability and outstanding environmental credentials, which made it ideal for the creation of a light-deflecting ‘Brise Soleil’ and the formation of the building’s striking sharp angles.
Scotlarch® also has a beautiful warm colour which weathers naturally to a silver that complements the woodland surroundings. The finished GreenAcres building – which has been shortlisted for a regional RIBA Award – is both practical and suitably atmospheric for family tributes.
As Architects we are passionate about the use of materials and the Scotlarch at Woodland Burial Parks allowed us to utilise a quality product with a striking natural finish
