Fire-retardant timber cladding – a practical solution from stock

2 min read

When it comes to specifying cladding for residential or commercial projects, fire performance is often a key consideration – especially in multi-storey buildings or where building regulations require it. Until now, finding a fire-retardant timber cladding solution that’s both cost-effective and readily available has been a challenge. At Russwood, we’re changing that.

The challenge: fire compliance without compromise

In projects where Euroclass B fire performance is needed, timber has too often been ruled out in favour of metal, fibre cement, or composite alternatives. These carbon intensive products may tick the compliance box, but they rarely match the visual warmth, sustainability credentials, or natural beauty of real wood.

Until recently, long lead times and high costs made fire-retardant timber cladding a less viable option for tight programmes or budget-conscious clients.

The solution: Euroclass B timber cladding – in stock

We now offer two of our most popular profiles – Thermopine® in a RW119 profile and Lunawood Collection, Luna Triple – treated to Euroclass B using Burnblock®, a non-toxic fire retardant derived from natural ingredients. These are available direct from stock, offering customers:

  • No minimum order quantity – making Euroclass B rated timber cladding a viable choice even for smaller projects.
  • Short lead times – ideal for fast-paced projects where time is critical.
  • Lower cost compared to traditional fire-resistant cladding alternatives like zinc or fibre-cement boards.
  • Low environmental impact – Burnblock® is biodegradable, non-toxic, and safe for both people and planet. We also have an Environmental Product Declaration available.

Fire-retardant timber cladding – designed to impress

As well as being high performance, these profiles also deliver on aesthetics. Both the RW119 (tongue-and-groove) and Luna Triple profiles are clean-lined and contemporary, suited to a wide range of architectural styles.

A recent project by London-based architect Sebastian Mongillo, Director of Mongillo Construction Workshop, demonstrates how Luna Triple delivers striking vertical rhythm while meeting stringent fire regulations. The results are stunning.

You no longer need to ask yourself:“How do we achieve Euroclass B fire performance without defaulting to metal, fibre‑cement or composite façades?

Russwood’s in‑stock profiles close that gap, giving every project team a practical route to compliant, low‑impact timber cladding.
