Garden decking inspiration: transform your outdoor space for summer

2 min read

As the days get longer and we begin to move out of winter into brighter, warmer months, now is the perfect time to rethink how your outdoor space works for you. Timber decking is one of the most effective ways to elevate a garden, creating a natural extension of your home. Whether you’re working with a generous plot or a more compact space, the right decking design can transform how you use it. From seamless indoor-outdoor transitions to low-maintenance finishes and characterful designs, we’re sharing some of our favourite Russwood projects to inspire your garden ahead of summer.

A seamless rear decking setup

Designed by Helen Lucas Architects, this private home in Edinburgh features a full-width deck, spanning the rear of the property. This creates a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living.

Our Thermopine® decking introduces subtle character through its distinctive butterfly knots. These complement the charm and aesthetic of the property’s stonework beautifully.

Refined grey decking, without the maintenance

Crafted from sustainably sourced Radiata Pine, our Accoya® Color Grey decking goes through a patented acetylation process. This process sets it apart from conventional timber decking. The boards are coloured through to the core, meaning they retain their sleek, grey appearance without the need for regular staining or coating.

Accoya® Color Grey decking offers exceptional durability and dimensional stability. This makes it perfect for any outdoor space in all conditions, whether it be a patio or poolside.

Characterful timber decking with added safety

Wick Road Garden features Thermopine® decking, creating a warm and inviting outdoor space that sits comfortably within its natural surroundings.

The decking turns this garden into the perfect place for summer barbeques, sun lounging, and everything in-between. The project utilises both our RW214 and RW215 (Anti-Slip) decking board profiles, which gives the decking a visually refined look alongside practicality and safety.

Specifier Tip: SenoFix® FT works in conjunction with Russwood decking profiles to provide a secret-fix solution, resulting in a clean, refined surface.

A cohesive cladding and decking combination

At Abbey Road, designed by Massive Architecture, Thermopine® is used for both cladding and decking to create a cohesive and unified material palette across the home.

The project is surrounded by tall trees and greenery, which bring out the characterful knots of the timber beautifully.
